Linkin Park's fans will hear Chester Bennington again years after the frontman's death.
Talks about the use of holograms and the band looking for a new frontman lingered over the past few years, which have since been debunked by Linkin Park members amid the public's wish to hear the band play again. While it has been years since Bennington's death, fans will be able to hear him again in a newly unveiled track.
Chester Bennington and Slash Worked on "Crazy" Demo
Thirteen years after the Linkin Park vocalist worked with Slash, producer Big Chris Flores revealed in the new episode of the "Appetite for Distortion" podcast that the duo have an unreleased demo of the song, "Crazy."
According to Flores, the track was never released after the late singer was unable to give permission for the demo's usage since Linkin Park was releasing a new album at that time.
Slash recorded his first solo album and released it in March 2010, while Linkin Park's "A Thousand Suns" arrived in September of the same year.
"We had to scrap it and shelve that and it kind of got lost in the matrix all those years," he went on.
Although Bennington's demo was never released, Slash used his guitar in his and Lemmy Kilmister's track, "Doctor Alibi," from his 2010 album.
Bennington died on July 20, 2017, by hanging. Authorities who responded to the scene also discovered a prescription for generic Ambien and one pill of the drug divided in half. A glass of Corona and an empty bottle of Stella Artois were also retrieved.
His autopsy report ruled that the results were "characteristic of suicidal hanging. There was a history of suicidal ideation."
Per his wife, Talinda, the Linkin Park frontman had suicide attempts in the years before his actual death, including a 2006 incident when he left their house while carrying a gun.
