After her solo song "Money" reached one billion plays on Spotify, Lisa of BLACKPINK officially received a plaque and used it to eat Khai Jiao, a Thai meal she had prepared.
The Thai K-pop star made history earlier this year in September when she became the first K-pop soloist to reach over one billion Spotify plays with the song "Money," which is taken from her solo debut single album "Lalisa."
Yesterday, November 15, the streaming service's social media channels released a unique film honoring Lisa's accomplishment.
In it, Lisa appears as the fourth artist highlighted in Spotify's brand-new video series "Billions Club: The Series," which also features a number of musicians who have accomplished the same.
The video shows Lisa getting her new plaque and opening it in her Parisian home.
She then uses it as a serving plate for her "favourite, favourite Thai dish," which she refers to as a "Thai-style shrimp omelette."
Speaking in her native tongue, Lisa expresses her feelings in another section of the video on getting the plaque and joining Spotify's Billions Club.
In the video, while cooking, she said to Spotify, "I feel like it's something unbelievable that my songs have this many people who have listened to them."
"It inspires me to keep creating music and makes me feel proud of myself."
The song "Money" has been added to Spotify's official "Billions Club" playlist, along with other popular tracks that have also achieved one billion streams on the music streaming service, after the announcement of the song's billion streams.
The K-pop tracks "Dynamite," "Butter," and other hits by BTS are available on the "Billions Club." The song "Money" was originally released in September 2021 as a B-side to Lisa's first solo album, "Lalisa."
After becoming popular on TikTok, the song was later published as a single in November of that same year.
In other BLACKPINK news, YG Entertainment declared in an official statement yesterday, November 15, that talks to extend the band's contracts are still in progress, even though the band's contracts are said to have ended in August 2023.
The label stated that "the document regarding major management issues related to investments will reveal the outcome" of the negotiations.
The precise release date of this report is still pending.
