For 23-year-old Ana Clara Benevides, the effects of Taylor Swift's show in Rio de Janeiro were unfortunate and deadly.
During the performance, Ana lost consciousness due to the high temperatures and later passed away from cardiac arrest at a hospital.
According to multiple outlets, this tragedy may have been avoided had she decided to stay home instead of travel during such a trying time.
A scorching heatwave had caused temperatures to soar, with a remarkable reading of 139 degrees Fahrenheit recorded on thermometers.
Taylor even said in a statement, "I can't believe I'm writing these words, but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show. I can't even tell you how devastated I am by this."
"I'm not going to be able to speak about this from stage because I feel overwhelmed by grief when I even try to talk about it," she said. She was visibly drenched with sweat and called for staff members to provide water bottles for thirsty fans. "It's very hot," she said as the crowd began chanting "We need water!"
