In the past few weeks, there has been a steady stream of sexual assault lawsuits in the state of New York. This is primarily driven by the expiration of the Adult Survivors Act.
Axl Rose is one of the most recent celebrities and singers who have been slapped with a scathing lawsuit.
Axl Rose Sued For Violent Rape
According to The New York Post, the Guns N' Roses frontman had allegedly used his "fame, status and power" to "violently rape" Sheila Kennedy in her Manhattan hotel room in 1989.
The complaint, filed in the New York State Supreme Court, detailed that Rose had violently attacked her and anally raped her at the time.
The incident happened in February 1989, after Kennedy met Rose in a New York City nightclub. Kennedy was invited by a Guns N' Roses fan but she made it clear that she was not familiar with the frontman or the band.
In the filing, Kennedy revealed that Rose invited her back to his hotel in Central Park West but he didn't want her friend to come by because she was "not hot enough" for his liking.
Kennedy also shared that Rose had cocaine, champagne and alcohol for his guests, which included MTV host Riki Rachtman. She was scared of what Rose would be like if he mixed prescription pills and alcohol.
At one point, Rose cleared the room, leaving him, Kennedy, Rachtman, and a female model. They got into bed and Rose had sex with the model which she deemed to be "aggressive" and "appeared painful" to the woman.
"The encounter quickly became not just uncomfortable but disturbing," she described.
Kennedy didn't like what was happening so she left the room with Rachtman. However, Rose found Kennedy in the other room and "loomed threateningly" over her and dragged her out like a "caveman." He then tied Kennedy's bleeding hands behind her back as he forced himself inside her anus while in a "sexual, volatile rage."
Axl Rose Denies Violent Rape Accusations
Axl Rose's spokesperson told The New York Post that the accusation was just a byproduct of the Adult Survivors Act expiring.
"Simply put, this incident never happened. Notably, these fictional claims were filed the day before the New York State filing deadline expires. Though he doesn't deny the possibility of a fan photo taken in passing, Mr. Rose has no recollection of ever meeting or speaking to the Plaintiff, and has never heard about these fictional allegations prior to today. Mr. Rose is confident this case will be resolved in his favor," Alan Gutman said.
