Sabrina Carpenter's "Feather" music video was dubbed by many fans online as one of the music videos that seemed to be similar in style and vibe to the earlier ones that were produced in the 2000s to the 2010s.

While its funky and catchy sound is definitely an earworm, it got a Brooklyn priest in trouble, the priest who allowed them to shoot a majority of the music video in their church.

According to a New York Times interview, Msgr. Jamie J. Gigantiello has been relieved of his administrative duties overseeing the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Brooklyn, New York.

Gigantiello posted his apology on the church's official Facebook Page. He detailed that he approved the filming of the "Feather" music video in September 2023 after not finding anything "negative" about Carpenter online.

He said that it was an "effort to further strengthen the bonds between the young creative artists who make up a large part of this community."

Gigantiello even told the publication that Carpenter's team had presented them with a funeral scene, but the pitch seemed to be vague as Gigantiello did not anticipate the resulting scene the one that was initially presented to him.

According to a statement quoted by Catholic News Agency, "The parish did not follow diocesan policy regarding the filming on Church property, which includes a review of the scenes and script," arguing that that the team "failed to accurately represent the video content."

Meanwhile, the production team involved in the "Feather" music video shoot revealed that they have secured all permissions needed and that they have provided a sufficient description of "inappropriate behavior unsuitable for a church sanctuary."

"As a result of this Bishop Robert Brennan has appointed Auxiliary Bishop Witold Mroziewsia as the temporary administrator while I remain Pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Annunciation Parish," Gigantiello revealed in his statement. "Additionally, my tenure as Vicar of Development for the Diocese, a position held for the last 15 years, has concluded as of November 3, 2023."

As of this writing, Sabrina Carpenter has not yet responded or issued any statement about the said issue.
