Linda Nolan tries to keep her head high amid her tough battle with a dreaded illness.
The Irish singer was first diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer in 2005. Years after getting the all-clear in 2006, she learned she had an incurable secondary cancer in her hip, which spread to her liver in 2020 and brain this year.
What Happened to Linda Nolan?
Nolan recently dropped an update after her heartbreaking diagnosis this year. The 64-year-old former crooner, though keeps a positive outlook amid her battle, said she sometimes feels her time is running out.
In her interview with Woman magazine, Nolan said she might have her last Christmas this year.
"When I wake up, I try to think it's another day to enjoy, not it's another day closer," she said. "Sometimes it's hard, but I never want cancer to win. Sometimes I slide down the wall and cry my eyes out because I'm having a bad day, but 99.9 per cent of the time I'm OK."
The "I'm in the Mood for Dancing" singer said Christmas would be extra special since she does not know if she could still make it next year. Despite the heartbreaking thought, she decided to make more memories and enjoy her last days.
She previously told Mirror that her cancer affected several aspects of her life, including her memory. She also shared how helping herself not to panic saved her from living in fear.
Nolan's family members were also affected by the same dreaded disease. Her younger sister, Bernie, died in 2013 - a year after she learned she was cancer-free.
However, she learned months later that the cancer had returned and spread to her other body parts.
Meanwhile, her other sister Anne was also diagnosed with breast cancer but is now in remission.
Linda Nolan's Cancer Battle
Nolan underwent a mastectomy and 18 rounds of chemotherapy after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005.
In 2017, she discovered her incurable secondary cancer in her hip before her liver cancer diagnosis in 2020.
Earlier this year, reports that he chose her own coffin and music for her funeral emerged after her cancer spread to her brain.
"Bernie arranged hers. It's easier for people left behind. I've gone into it a little bit. A Neil Sedaka song, Our Last Song Together. And I know the funeral people I'm going to use."
