Billie Eilish does not want her sexuality to constantly be the topic brought up about her when her career is just as important and interesting.
"Thanks, Variety for my award and for also outing me on a red carpet at 11 a.m. instead of talking about anything else that matters," the "What Was I Made For" singer said in an Instagram post.
"I like boys and girls. Leave me alone about it. Please literally who cares? Stream 'What Was I Made For,'" she added.
The interview Eilish is referring to was during her interview with the publication during Variety's Hitmakers event.
Before the event, though, Eilish revealed her sexuality candidly a few months back as she was featured on Variety's Power of Women cover story.
Billie Eilish Talks About Sexuality
During the red carpet event over the weekend, the "Ocean Eyes" singer shared more about her "coming out" story, and why it was not such a big deal for her.
"But I kind of thought, 'Wasn't It obvious?' I didn't realize people didn't know," she said. "I just don't really believe in it. I'm just like, 'Why can't we just exist?'
"I've been doing this for a long time, and I just don't talk about it. Whoops."
She then declared that she is "for the girls," and that when the article came out, that's when it sank in that people did not know about her sexuality.
"I was like, 'Oh I guess I came out today.' Okay, cool. It's exciting to me because I guess people didn't know, but it's cool that they know."
While Eilish never really specified what her sexuality is, she simply explained that she "loves [women] so much."
"I love them as people. I'm attracted to them as people. I'm attracted to them for real ... I'm physically attracted to them. But I'm also so intimidated by them and their beauty and their presence."
Billie Eilish's Post Confuses Netizens
When Eilish came forward and addressed the red-carpet interview via her Instagram, many were left confused about the situation.
"Wait, I'm confused...did she not come out IN the story the interviewer referenced? Lol."
"It's not that serious plus the interviewer was just joking around and she responded very willingly idk I don't like how she trynna frame this," another added.
Meanwhile, others defended the singer: "It's obvious y'all didn't learn from what happened to Kit Connor. he felt forced to come out and so did she. at least she didn't want to do it but had to on a red carpet as she was set up by the question she was asked."
