Daddy Yankee finally closed out the chapter of his entire career as he performed for the last time in Puerto Rico last Sunday and his speech made him emotional.

According to Billboard, the legendary Latino artist performed four back-to-back shows called "La Meta" from November 30 to December 3 at The Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan. Aside from fans who attended the show, some watched via livestream at their homes.

The concert was a once-in-a-lifetime event as Daddy Yankee considers it as his final show ever before his retirement so the songs he performed included tracks from his three-decade career as a musician.

"This is the most important day of my life and I want to share it because it's not the same living a life with success than a life with purpose," he said in his speech.

He added that there were times in his career when he tried to fill a void in his life that no one could ever fill, so when he tried to seek his purpose, although he was happy, there was still something missing for him to feel complete.

"I have to confess that those days are over and someone was able to fill that void that I felt for a lot of time. I realized that for everyone I was someone but I was no one without him," he said, translated from Spanish to English.

He later credited his faith and expressed that God live in him and he will do the same for him.

"A chapter has ended but a new one will begin," he told thousands of fans.

He added that all the tools he has like music, platform, and impact, God has given him that to spread his word.

"Don't follow any person. I am human. To all the people who follow me, follow Jesus Christ, he's the way, the truth, and the life," he added.

Why Is Daddy Yankee Retiring?

According to Remezcla, Daddy Yankee explained the reason for his retirement during an interview with Rolling Stone, saying that he entered a reflective state when the pandemic started years ago.

He noted that he needs to "live too" and enjoy everything that he achieved and worked hard for because he's still young and healthy.
