In a statement, Keys expressed her excitement in announcing the project's relocation to Broadway.
"Good things take time and for 13 years, I've been dreaming, developing and finding inspiration for a musical based on my experience growing up in Hell's Kitchen, NYC. 'Hell's Kitchen' is inspired by my life, but it's not a biographical story," she clarified.
According to the Grammy-winning singer, "Hell's Kitchen" is about "family relationships and identity" - "Who are we? Who do we want to be? Who are we becoming?"
Keys wrote the music and the lyrics but the book was written by acclaimed and award-winning playwright Kristoffer Diaz.

As of this writing, the Broadway cast for Alicia Keys' "Hell's Kitchen" hasn't been announced yet, but the Off-Broadway production currently stars Shoshana Bean, Brandon Victor Dixon, Kecia Lewis, Chris Lee, Vanessa Ferguson, and Maleah Joi Moon.
