Beyoncé and Taylor Swift's impact on the music industry this year is the biggest so far in their careers. Starting with both of their critically acclaimed albums, to their earth-shattering concert records, to their box-office concert films - the Grammy-winning icons have cemented themselves as the biggest artists in the world.
Forbes' annual list of Most Powerful Women of the Year has recognized the two artists at the top of the list, with Swift being the fifth most powerful woman, and Beyoncé at the Top 36.
Taylor Swift: Most Powerful Woman of 2023
Forbes' annual Most Powerful Women of the Year list puts the multi-platinum rand global pop sensation Taylor Swift at the fifth spot of the Forbes Most Powerful Women of 2023.
The ranking was prompted after the publication revealed that Swift has recently earned her billionaire mark as she is currently worth around $1.1 billion. This was composed of $500 million from royalties and touring alone, $500 million from her iconic music catalog, and $125 for her real estate properties.
This high placement was primarily attributed to her "The Eras Tour" ticket sales and her recent history-setting releases of "Taylor's Version" albums - making her essentially the first musician to "make the ranks solely based on her songs and performances."
Meanwhile, Swift is ranked the Most Powerful Woman of 2023 in Media and Entertainment, just above Beyoncé (3) and Oprah Winfrey (2).
Beyoncé: Most Powerful Woman of 2023
At No. 36, Beyoncé is ranked on the overall Most Powerful Women list. It was a huge leap for Queen B as she previously ranked No. 80 last year.
Her higher placement was primarily boosted by the fact that she became the most-awarded artist in Recording Academy history with her monumental 32nd win. Forbes noted that her collaboration with Balmain and her "Renaissance" tour bolstered her to the top.
Rihanna: Most Powerful Woman of 2023
Rihanna, on the other hand, is ranked No. 74 on the Most Powerful Women list of Forbes. Although she has a bigger net worth than Taylor Swift with $1.4 billion, her earnings and influence were primarily driven by her lucrative Fenty Beauty and Savage x Fenty businesses, not to mention her iconic Super Bowl Halftime Show performance this year.
Rihanna is ranked the tenth Most Powerful Woman in Media and Entertainment in 2023, just below Netflix, Amazon Studios, Universal Pictures, Fox News, Disney Entertainment, and Paramount Pictures executives.
