If One Direction decides to return, Harry Styles will not have to rejoin his former bandmates.
A former X Factor judge reflected on Styles' growing success years after One Direction announced its hiatus. The "Watermelon Sugar" hitmaker officially launched his solo career in May 2017, and it has been flourishing since then.
Harry Styles Can Exist Without One Direction
Speaking to Alex Apati of Ladbrokes LIVE, Louis Walsh looked back at the time when One Direction became a band through The X Factor. He shared that Styles has always been "a star in his own right at that time," so he is successful even without the group.
"He's bigger than the band ever were ... I wouldn't recommend [a reunion], actually. Harry Styles doesn't need it. It's like how George Michael didn't need Wham!, Robbie [Williams] didn't need Take That. They might just do it for a TV show or a charity event, or something like that. But that'll be it," he went on.
In fact, Styles is also the richest One Direction member as he now has a $120 million net worth. The number, however, might even be higher than that after Erskine Records revealed new details about his earnings.
According to his label, Styles has assets of $91 million, $40 million higher compared to his 2022 earnings. It might balloon because of his tour since the published paychecks only covered the first six months of his tour.
"With the next James Bond film being discussed more and more, it seems increasingly likely that Harry Styles, one of the biggest names in music today, could be the voice we hear in the opening titles of the next Bond film," political analyst William Kadjanyi told Star Sports. "And this is not forgetting Ed Sheeran, whose music has already appeared in the likes of The Hobbit, at 8/1 and the ever-popular Lewis Capaldi, following closely behind Styles in the market at 10/1."
On the other hand, Walsh expressed his surprise since Zayn Malik did not bring out more music over the past few years after quitting One Direction.
His comment came after a faux One Direction reunion banner went viral. The material in question showed the text "LIVE NATION PRESENTS" and the continents where the group would reportedly visit for the reunion world tour, but it has since been debunked.
