Lil Durk is being sued by a company for allegedly selling the rights to a song that is owned by his record label.
On Wednesday (Dec. 6), Exceed Talent Capital filed a lawsuit against the Chicago rapper. The lawsuit says that in August 2022, Exceed Talent Capital claimed they paid $450,000 of $600,000 for the rights to Durk's record, "Bedtime." But in May 2023, the company received a letter from Durk's record label, Alamo Records, saying that they own the rights to the record.
"As a direct and proximate result of defendants' aforesaid contractual breaches, Exceed has sustained and continues to suffer, significant foreseeable losses including, without limitation, the $450,000 that Exceed paid to the OTF/TTPMG Parties under the Agreement, no portion of which has been returned to Exceed despite its repeated demand therefor," the lawsuit reads.
"As defendants have failed and refused to acknowledge any responsibility for their intentional misrepresentations and material contractual breaches, let alone take action to rectify the same, Exceed was compelled to bring the present action to obtain legal redress," the company wrote.
"Where I'm from, few own anything," the rapper said in a press release."As The Voice of the Trenches and for my label OTF, I'm always looking for ways to expand and give back to my people. Exceed makes it possible for my fans to become part of my team and share in our success together."
The lawsuit claims that the move by Durk's alleged fraud caused Exceed to rack up more than $12 million in damages.
In other Lil Durk news, Kanye West is allegedly attempting to buy Durkio out of his contract with Alamo Records after the label did not clear Durk's verse on Kanye's new song, "Vultures."
