Britney Spears fans were surprised to find out that her mother, Lynne, had joined in on the star's 42nd birthday celebrations on December 2.
This was given the long history of turbulence within the Spears family, and they are unlikely to ever appear together on "Family Feud."
Britney's Lack of Trust
At the bash put on by Cade Hudson, Lynne Spears, 68, was one of the guests. Taking to Instagram, Hudson shared a photo with Britney and her brother Bryan, 46, alongside their mother.
When a close friend of Lynne shared pictures of her and daughter the question on everyone's mind was whether or not they would be reuniting for the holidays.
A source from Page Six revealed that there is hope for reconciliation. However, it would take baby steps.
Britney and Lynne have reportedly been communicating regularly since the birthday party. A source close to them stated, "Before the celebration, Britney and her mother had already begun conversing."
The insider added how lack of trust is particularly pronounced for the "Baby One More Time" singer; due to the pressures of being a public figure and her past experiences, faith in others can be complex.
As well as this, her relationship with her mother has become strained since she was placed under a very tight conservatorship, and she openly pointed the finger at her for not providing adequate support.
Before It Happened
When Britney accused her mom of throwing away her childhood journals and dolls, Lynne quickly took to Instagram to prove otherwise by posting pictures of the items.
"I'm not sure who told you I got rid of your dolls and journals, but I would never do that! That would be cruel because I know how much they mean to you," the mom-of-three wrote during that time.
"They are special to me, too, because of the years we spent collecting them. Of course, I still have your things, and I am happy to send them to you if you want me to. Please let me know and know how much I love you."
Sisters Relationship
Rumor has it that Britney Spears and Jamie Lynn Spears have also been attempting to repair their relationship, which broke down in early 2022 due to the release of Jamie Lynn's book "Things I Should Have Said: Family, Fame, and Figuring it Out."
The star had felt her younger sister was exploiting her ongoing conservatorship dispute.
In her best-selling book entitled "The Woman in Me," Britney called Jamie Lynn a "total bitch."
Describing her time being sent to the mental health facility in 2018, she stated, "[Jamie Lynn] knew I was reaching out to her for help and that she was dogging me. I felt like she should have taken my side.
