Foskett died on Monday, December 11, following his long battle with anaplastic thyroid cancer. The disease is considered the most advanced and aggressive thyroid cancer, according to the American Thyroid Association.
On Instagram, Wilson -one of Foskett's collaborators - remembered the time they spent together and how the late musician was always there for him when they toured. He noted that they could not have done it without Foskett.
"Jeff was one of the most talented guys I ever knew," he continued. "He was a great musical leader and guitarist and he could sing like an angel. I first met Jeff in 1976 when he knocked on my door in Bel Air and I invited him in, and we were friends ever since. I don't know what else to say. Love and Mercy to Jeff's family and friends, we will remember him forever."
More colleagues, friends and fans remembered Foskett online after learning about the loss.
Dr. Jeff Matthews shared a black-and-white picture of himself with the late singer alongside the text, "So sad to hear about Jeff Foskett's passing. Brilliant singer, and a funny, lovely human. RIP my friend."
"RIP jeff foskett, one of the kindest musicians i've ever interviewed. in 2019 we dove into his beach boys saga, which started when he decided to knock on brian's door in 1976," Rolling Stone writer Angie Martoccio shared.
Mark Lindsay added, "I am heartbroken to hear this news. Jeffrey Foskett was the kindest human I ever met, and was blessed with the voice of an angel, among his many other talents. He fought long and hard, and we all hoped beyond hope that he'd win the battle."
Foskett was diagnosed with the dreaded illness in 2018, prompting him to undergo debilitating surgeries and treatments that took one of his vocal cords.
He released his album, "Voices," which he declared his last as a singer amid his health battle.
"God gave me such a beautiful voice, and I really did use it to honor him and to sing my best at every single performance," he told Billboard.
