Nicki Minaj's "Pink Friday 2" album has definitely broken the internet with the fanfare and acclaim it has caused. The album has been projected to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart.
However, as the days of the official chart rankings approached, Nicki Minaj took to Twitter/X to blast the music publication for apparently filtering her sales because of a thing she did on social media.
Nicki Minaj 'Pink Friday 2' Debut Sales Filtered?
In an explosive Tweet on Twitter/X, Nicki Minaj exposed Billboard Magazine for allegedly pulling some last-minute changes to the rules that would affect the Billboard 200 rankings.
On Twitter/X, Nicki Minaj expressed her frustrations with Billboard, as she claimed that the publication, would not be counting 100,000 of her physical edition sales because she had a contest on the platform that requires her fans, the Barbz, to show proof that they have purchased four editions of the album.
The Barbz 100 competition will then have Nicki choose 100 of her fans to join her in the studio one day. Apparently, Billboard, all of a sudden, decided that this was not allowed.
Minaj revealed that "Pink Friday 2" had already reached 300,000 album equivalent units - combined physical and streaming - but Billboard allegedly slashed a 100,000. (via Uproxx)
"It's at 300 but once they filter out 100K, you'll be none the fkng wiser," Minaj said, saying that she's being "punished" for: Not signing a 360; Making great music; Having great fans; And for not leaving the game so that their new Nicki's (who signed 360 deals) can be propped up to look as tho they are a lot more successful than they rlly are."
Nicki Minaj Being Rigged By Billboard?
As of this writing, Billboard has not yet addressed the scathing allegations.
In another set of tweets, Minaj had also revealed that there had been four companies who were "still trying their hardest" to bring her down.
A fan also noted that Billboard was "phoney," saying that they only do this when it comes to her.
"I know. Lol they changed all those other rules specifically for me yet their own "ppl" are the ones suffering from it & will CONTINUE to. I don't need any validation. Album is phenomenal & my fans as well as others love it. But they're soooooooooo angry they couldn't stop me," she went on to say.
