Taylor Swift has a new achievement under her belt--given to her by her home state, Pennsylvania, no less!
According to People Magazine, the "Cruel Summer" singer received a birthday gift like no other: Pennsylvania officials declared that 2023 is officially recognized as the "Taylor Swift Era" in the state.
"[Swift] transcended the role of [a] pop star," read the resolution; it also noted the intangible contributions the singer has imparted to not only Pennsylvania but to the rest of the country.
"[She] shines as a role model of courage, self-acceptance, and self-determination, persisting in the face of personal and professional obstacles and challenges," it continued.
The resolution was introduced by Representatives Danielle Friel Otten, Jennifer O'Mara, Johanny Cepeda-Freytiz, Robert Freeman, Benjamin V. Sanchez, Arvind Venkat, Jose Giral, and Maureen E. Madden.
Taylor Swift's Roots in Pennsylvania
The "Look What You Made Me Do" singer grew up in a Christmas tree farm in Reading, Pennsylvania before moving to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue her music career.
She has several songs indirectly referencing the state, like "Christmas Tree Farm," "Seven," and "Gold Rush."
"I turn 64 years old today, and I think about who's going to carry on our legacy. She's not popular because she writes break-up songs," said Madden.
"She's popular because the largest demographic of people eligible to vote, the 18- to 24-year-old demographic, listens to her and does what she says."
Taylor Swift, 'The Eras' Tour
According to reports, Swift's success has brought in success in her home state throughout the years as well, most especially during her "The Eras" tour shows.
Swift's "The Eras" tour was reported as one of the main factors that improved the local economies in cities across the United States. Her highly anticipated shows see a rise in tourists which helps local hotels, inns, restaurants, and cafes.
"The Eras" tour is now the highest-grossing music tour, as per the Guinness World Records; it earned $1.04 billion to date.
It has surpassed the tours of Elton John, Beyonce, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, and other musician giants.
In fact, the "Blank Space" singer is just getting started. Her "The Eras" tour just finished the second leg of the tour which is in Latin America; next year, Swift will be proceeding to perform several shows in Australia, Japan, Singapore, London, Paris, and more.
She also released a "The Eras Tour" concert film in support of her tour. It runs for 3.5 hours, with a setlist of 44 songs.
