Madonna is currently touring for the United States leg of her "Celebration Tour" which will tackle all eras of her music as well as hit tracks from her decades-long catalog. Upon announcing her series of shows, people have wondered who her opening act might be and fans were surprised as it was not a musician.
According to Uproxx, the pop royalty's supporting act is none ofther than Bob the Drag Queen, popularly known for being a multi-talented entertainer and also the winner of "RuPaul's Drag Race" season 8.
In an interview with the New York Post, the television star recalled that he first met Madonna during her New York Pride show in June of last year, and upon first meeting, the comedian said she had a good attitude.
"I mean, I wish I could have a story like, 'She spat in my face and called me a b****,' but she didn't... She was a really cool lady. She's pretty normal," he said.
Who is Bob the Drag Queen?
Bob, who goes by Caldwell Tidicue when not performing as a drag queen, was born in June 1986 in Columbus, Georgia.
He began doing drag after watching the first season of "RuPaul's Drag Race" and has been obsessed with the art of performing ever since.
Initially, he was a standup comedian while wearing extravagant clothing, but he later transitioned into lip-syncing a couple months after.
The career path he took was hard at first as it seemed like a passion project, as he explained in an interview: "It did not make me money or get me gigs. It cost me a lot. I did this competition every Thursday. Then another one on Wednesday. And another on Tuesday. I never won any of them. Ever. After a few years, I finally won one. It was really addictive and fun doing competitions."
Then finally, in 2016, he was announced as one of the contestants for the eighth season of "RuPaul's Drag Race." His trajectory record was great as he was able to win three maxi challenges.
He won the competition and received a cash prize of $100,000. Ever since, the drag performer has been a staple within the community.
Bob the Drag Queen on Madonna
Elsewhere in his interview with the Post, he explained that Madonna was able to touch so many people in her 40 years of career and her sold-out shows only proved her massive impact.
For the series of concerts, Bob is the voice behind the ballroom segment for the song "Vogue" which is very special for him.
"This is a real tribute to the ballroom scene and to the riotous nature of New York City nightlife and the Stonewall riots and just . . . all of it," he said.
