Toro y Moi (aka Chaz Bundick) is taking a break so he can become his dance alter ego: Les Sins.
Bundick's new record, Michael, is due Nov. 4 on Company Records, and he just released the music video for "Bother."
Directed by former Toro y Moi videographers HARRYS (the duo of Harry Israelson and Harry Schleiff), the video is simultaneously hilarious and entrancing. It's tough to look away from the wacky inflatable tube dude as he's placed in several settings and expertly shot doing his unique dance moves.
"Don't bother me," Bundick says over and over. "I'm working."
Bundick recently sat down with Noisey to discuss his new project.
"I guess with this one I'm trying to get people to recognise a good electronic track - no matter if it's dark or house-y," he said. "Because I feel like nowadays, everyone is like - oh, I like house music. And I'm like - really, you like house music? Have you tried going outside of 130BPM? I want people to be open to more styles of electronic music."
He also named the influencing artists for Michael.
"The main influence is Motor City Drum Ensemble," he said. "I really like how his drums and samples are meshed together; there's lots of texture too. Even artists like Four Tet, he's one of the biggest ones. He's definitely a living legend. [Four Tet] is one of the electronic guys from our generation that I really appreciate."
