Taylor Swift's birthplace, Reading Hospital, gave out beaded friendship bracelets to new parents on Wednesday to celebrate the singer's 34th birthday.
The accessories with sayings like "Newborn Era," "Fierce," "Fearless," and "Loved" were distributed to the happy babies and their families.
"In celebration of Berks County native Taylor Swift's birthday, our babies are marking their newborn era today with adorable friendship bracelets from our staff!' the hospital announced on Instagram earlier this week. Here's to celebrating the spirit of connection and the beginning of many cherished bonds among our newest stars. About '60 bracelets' were distributed to 'families of newborns in maternity, NICU families, and some staff members who are Swifties and couldn't resist," said Jessica Belzer, the hospital's public relations manager, on Fox News Digital.
Charles F. Barbera, MD, President and CEO of Reading Hospital, told People that "it was a fun moment to provide families with a keepsake for their baby books."
She elaborated, "Our maternal and NICU staff members are incredible. They are truly like family. Each day, they go above and beyond to care for the babies born here. We appreciate the recognition they are receiving for their hard work and for their dedication to making sure every family feels loved and cared for while at Reading Hospital."
One fan wrote that the whole move has started a new generation of Taylor fans. Fans cannot help gushing in the comment section, claiming these bracelets are priceless treasures.
"This was so nice, a whole new generation of hopeful Swifties," exclaimed another.
A line from Swift's 2022 album Midnights is said to inspire all these. In one verse, Swift sings her fans to 'So make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it / You've got no reason to be afraid.'
Her 'big and loyal lot' had a tremendous impact on jewelry sales for the company, according to Michaels, one of the craft retailers that the line directed listeners to.
Chief merchandising officer of Michaels Stores John Gehre stated to USA TODAY in August that since mid-April, when the friendship bracelet fad really started to take off, "overall, sales in our jewelry category, including jewelry-making kits, are up more than 40% chainwide." Fans would trade friendship bracelets, which frequently had lines from each of Swift's 10 albums, with one another at her concerts.
Swift's friends and famous contacts, including Jennifer Garner, Selena Gomez, Mariska Hargitay, Halsey, and Kyle Richards, all showed up at the show with bracelets, and more were given to them by other concertgoers. During the Eras Tour stops in Kansas City this summer and Argentina this month, Swifties showered her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, with friendship bracelets.
