2023 has been quite a year for several artists who were eyeing a major comeback into the music scene, especially Taylor Swift and Beyonce, who rocked the world with their sold-out world tours.
Swift embarked on "The Eras" tour, her first world tour since her 2018 "Reputation" stadium tour; the career-spanning setlist consists of 44 songs and lasts three hours.
To commemorate the tour, the singer released an accompanying concert film documenting it, "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour."
The highlight of the tours is Taylor Swift's performances of her surprise songs.
While successful, it encountered several hiccups with the ticket-selling process; it resulted in the US government discussing Ticket Master ticket sales process and the flaws in its system.
Likewise, a tour that left the entire world at the edge of their seats was Beyonce's highly anticipated "Renaissance" world tour.
The tour was in support of her seventh studio album, "Renaissance," which was released a year prior; it also boasts a career-spanning setlist.
It easily became one of the highest-grossing concert tours of all time. The "Renaissance" tour was kicked off on May 10 in Stockholm, Sweden, and concluded in Kansas City, Missouri on Oct. 1.
Britney Spears' Memoir 'The Woman in Me', Kesha Concludes Decades-Long Legal Battle Against Dr. Luke
While female artists dominated the music charts this year, other female artists managed to break free from decades-long abuse and trauma that kept them silent.
According to reports, Britney Spears dropped her memoir, "The Woman in Me," and set the record straight about her career, love life, as well as infamous conservatorship.
"This is what's hard to explain, how quickly I could vacillate between being a little girl and being a teenager and being a woman, because of the way they had robbed me of my freedom," the "Baby One More Time" singer wrote. "The woman in me was pushed down for a long time."
"This book has been a labor of love and all the emotions that come with it," she told People Magazine. "Reliving everything has been exciting, heart-wrenching, and emotional, to say the least."
Another artist who managed to put the past behind her this year is Kesha, who just concluded her years-long legal battle against her former music producer, Dr. Luke.
According to reports, the "Tik Tok" singer settled her lawsuit with Dr. Luke after accusing him of sexually assaulting her many years ago.
"I cannot recount everything that happened," Kesha said following the settlement.
After she settled, the singer was also able to part ways with Kemosabe Records, which is also owned by the music producer.
"I haven't felt this free since I was 18," she wrote in a social media update.
