Many artists were placed on the Internet's chopping block this year, and for various reasons; included in the list is Selena Gomez, who started out as the underdog and victim of an alleged years-long feud with Justin Bieber's wife Hailey.

The "Single Soon" singer was initially pitied by netizens when they noticed Hailey and her friends, reality stars, Kendall and Kylie Jenner.

Hailey was seen lip-synching to a TikTok audio, "And I'm not saying she deserved it, but God's timing is always right." Fans immediately assumed she was throwing shade at Gomez.

"I never comment on this type of thing but we were just having a girls' night and did a random TikTok sound for fun. It's not directed at anyone," the model responded to the hate.

However, as the feud progressed and worsened, everyone suddenly turned on the singer.

Netizens claimed that Gomez constantly "played the victim" despite being the one who started the feud.

"Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity," Gomez wrote.

"This isn't what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I've always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop."

Doja Cat Hates Her Fans?

Another artist who had major beef this year is Doja Cat; the "Say So" rapper seemingly disowned her fans and claimed to hate them.

"If you call yourself a 'kitten' or f*cking 'kittenz' that means you need to get off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house," was her response to a fan-run account that went by the name "Kittenz," which is Doja Cat's fandom name.

When the fan asked her to say she loved them, she declined, "I don't though cuz I don't even know y'all."

According to reports, Doja Cat denies ever saying that she hates her fans and that it was all just a joke.

"If people don't see the joke, then they just don't see the joke. And it's not my responsibility to have them understand," she said.

However, the singer lost a couple thousand followers because of the said joke.

Britney Spears Slams Justin Timberlake in Memoir

After their breakup more than a decade ago, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake went their separate ways.

There was not a lot of information regarding their break up save for the songs that were directed at each other, "Cry Me a River" and "Every Time."

There were allegations of Spears cheating on the *NSYC boy bander, but they were not confirmed.

There was renewed interest in Timberlake after Spears released her memoir "The Woman in Me."

"It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn't a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I'd anticipated," the singer wrote about their relationship and the pregnancy she terminated.

"But Justin definitely wasn't happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren't ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young."

Spears' fans came after the singer, and despite his best efforts to mean "no offense" by performing "Cry Me a River" recently, the singer herself criticized him.

Other artists who received heavy criticism and backlash from netizens include Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Beyonce, Sean "Diddy" Combs, and more.
