Kelly Clarkson, the three-time Grammy Award winner, witnessed the marriage of a fortunate couple on December 31 during her performance in Las Vegas.
Kelly Clarkson helped a couple ring in 2024 with a wedding!
The "Catch My Breath" singer paused her performance on December 31 in Las Vegas to stand next to a couple who were being married in front of the crowd.
After over 15 years of dating, one of the guys disclosed that he and his girlfriend intended to marry with Clarkson at their side. Clarkson passed her microphone to their officiant, who was also in the crowd, and let him take the lead.
Everyone rejoiced as the officiant pronounced them husband and wife after they had exchanged vows. Among the audience was the pair's parents, whom Clarkson even embraced and congratulated.
Clarkson's participation in the wedding ceremony occurs over two years subsequent to the resolution of her divorce from Brandon Blackstock.
After marrying Blackstock in October 2013, the "Stronger" singer filed for divorce in June 2020, over seven years later, citing irreconcilable differences. During the breakup, the American Idol winner talked candidly in October of the same year about prioritizing their two kids.
Their son Remington Alexander and daughter River Rose are shared. I'm an open book, but sometimes I'm more of a mama bear than a public figure, which has made things challenging to negotiate. Therefore, my children are the most important thing in my life," she said to Entertainment Tonight at the time.
According to court documents acquired by The Blast, the three-time Grammy Award winner was reportedly ordered to pay her former a one-time payment of around $1.3 million in addition to monthly spousal and child maintenance until January 31, 2024.
Meanwhile, it was also reported that as his manager, Brandon Blackstock assisted his ex-wife Kelly Clarkson in a number of business transactions, even though a California labor commissioner has determined that he wasn't supposed to.
Clarkson prevailed in her most recent court case against Blackstock earlier this month. PEOPLE was able to get documents that show he was forced to pay her $2,641,374 for illegally obtaining deals that were better suited for a talent agency and for exceeding his managerial authority. His attorneys have submitted an appeal of the decision.
In the lawsuit, 41-year-old Clarkson asserted that 46-year-old Blackstock had obtained contracts for the Grammy winner with Wayfair, Norwegian Cruise Line, The Voice, The Kelly Clarkson Show, and the Billboard Music Awards in exchange for compensation.
