Cardi B pushed through and still left audiences in awe when she appeared onstage during Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve concert, but apparently, she was "fighting for [her] life" the entire time.
"I'm literally fighting for my life right now," the "Bodak Yellow" rapper said in an Instagram Live. "I am so sick. I don't understand because when I was in New York, I was going out with sweaters, toes out, everything."
Despite feeling ill, Cardi B continued with her performance at Fontainebleau from Miami, while other artists were also in different cities.
Megan Thee Stallion and LL Cool J performed from Times Square in New York while Post Malone was from Las Vegas.
"My chest started getting tight," the rapper continued. "Bro, I've been fighting for three days and I have a huge performance later. Huge performance. Like, alright, I get that it's New Year's but I have this huge performance and I'm fighting, fighting."
Cardi B Teasing New Music?
According to reports, after the New Year's Eve performance, Cardi B also teased a song fans had never heard of before.
The "Bonggos" rapper shared a snippet of unreleased music at a Miami Club, and she also shared a video of her rapping along as money was thrown around.
Fans have been eagerly anticipating Cardi B's sophomore album after the release of her successful debut "Invasion of Privacy" several years ago.
"I should already start talking about the album because I'm going to be putting it out very soon," the rapper said during her appearance at "Ebro in the Morning."
"I wasn't even thinking like that...for this album, I'm just holding it because I feel like I'm missing a couple of things."
Cardi B Under Pressure to Release New Album
Aside from looking for the "missing" things in her album, Cardi B admitted that she feels a bit pressured by all the expectations.
"For my first album, I didn't get to do not even half the things I wanted to do because I was super super duper pregnant," she continued.
"I missed out on a lot of videos I wanted to do, I missed out on touring - I just missed out on a lot of things, so I just gotta make sure that everything is just planned out."
Cardi B confirmed that her upcoming album will be released in 2024, but did not specify exactly when.
