Born in South Africa, Tyla Laura Seethal, widely known as Tyla, came to light during the second of the year after the release of her song, "Water." The song has sat on Billboard's top 100 for the past 12 weeks peaking at no. 10.

After the song and dance became trendy on TikTok, Tyla has since gone on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and even performed at the Dick Clarke's New Year's Rockin' Eve in Times Square, where she performed two other songs as well.

The new singer has made waves in her career so far as the two-month-old music video has reached 92 million views on You Tube and holds the 25th place for top streamed music videos on the platform currently.

Tyla has made it big so far as she is already nominated for a Grammy for Best African Music Performance, showing that this is truly the beginning for the performer who is eager to show the world what amapiano is and what it means for her culture.

In an interview with Harper Bazaar, Tyla creates her music with a mix of pop and amapiano sounds that help tell a story about the events she has encountered. While she loves creating on her own, Tyla also enjoys an open-minded environment to gain more perspective and insight.

"Obviously, I enjoy doing things by myself. But I always find that I enjoy collaborating with people. I enjoy those sessions more. It is more creative. I am able to bounce [ideas] off of people. Then, people can bounce off of me," she says. "I love getting inspiration and sharing where I am from and things about my life and culture."

With an album underway with features from celebrities like Travis Scott and Ayla Starr, Tyla is excited for what the future holds for her and her team: "I am so ready for everything that is to come."
