The predictions are in for the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album and not surprisingly, Taylor Swift is leading.
According to Goldderby, Kelly Clarkson's "Chemistry" and Ed Sheeran's "Subtract" won't have a channce and only the three Album of the Year nominees will compete for the award. Few musicians have ever dominated the music industry like Swift has in 2023. For her not to win will be so much more shocking than her bagging it.
"Midnights" is by far the bestselling album here, had three pop radio hits, and received positive reviews. Furthermore, voters may consider that Swift should be allowed to join the elite group of two-time category winners, which includes Adele and Kelly Clarkson, given she has only won this award once, for "1989" in 2016.
With a score of 91 on Metacritic and a resounding showing on lists of the finest albums of the year, Olivia Rodrigo's "Guts" is without a doubt the most highly regarded album in this category.
But praise is frequently disregarded in the pop genre; in 2018, Ed Sheeran's controversial song "Divide" defeated Kesha's highly regarded "Rainbow."
In comparison to her Grammy-winning song "Sour," which had multiple hits, "Guts" only truly produced one massive hit ("Vampire"), making it somewhat of an underperformer for Rodrigo.
Furthermore, voters might want to hold off on giving Rodrigo another chance at this category as she just won it in 2022; Swift, on the other hand, has received numerous nominations and has genuinely reached a new career high since her last victory.
Miley Cyrus is the only other contender with "Endless Summer Vacation," but voters might decide not to give Cyrus any credit here because her song "Flowers" is far more competitive in song categories than "Summer" is in album races.It makes sense that Taylor Swift topped the album chart at the end of 2023, considering how much she dominated pop culture and music.
The star's rendition of her 2014 pop crossover hit, "1989 (Taylor's Version)," debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 for the final two weeks of the year, marking the album's fourth and fifth consecutive weeks at the top and aiding Swift in setting yet another record.
According to the most recent list, Swift has surpassed Elvis Presley in the number of times a solo artist has debuted at No. 1 with 68 occasions, spanning 13 of her LPs. In the 132 years that Billboard's flagship album chart has existed, only the Beatles have had more No. 1 positions than any other performer. The chart began in 1956.
According to the tracking firm Luminate, "1989 (Taylor's Version)" had the equivalent of 98,000 sales in the US during its most recent week of release, with 48.5 million streams and 61,000 copies sold as a full bundle.
The new "1989" has had the equivalent of 2.8 million sales and just over one billion streams in the United States alone in the nine weeks since its late October release. Seasonal albums make up half of the most recent Top 10, with Michael Bublé's "Christmas" ranking at number two.
The others are "A Christmas Gift for You From Phil Spector" (No. 7), "The Christmas Song" by Nat King Cole (No. 4), "Merry Christmas" by Mariah Carey (No. 8), and "The Greatest Christmas Hits" by Pentatonix (No. 10).
These songs are probably going to fall significantly, if not completely, from the chart the next week since listeners like to load up their Christmas streaming playlists with decorations and wrapping paper on December 26. This week's top two songs are "One Thing at a Time" by Morgan Wallen and "Pink Friday 2" by Nicki Minaj, which is at number three.
