On Tuesday, Shawn Mendes posted on social media about a new coping mechanism for anxiety.
He was recently photographed in Los Angeles with chiropractor Jocelyne Miranda. In the monochrome video, he was dressed in pants and a tank top while he played an instrument.
The "It'll Be Okay" artist wrote, "Over the last year I spent a lot of time singing like this. I found that in moments of extreme anxiety or fear if I sat down with my harmonium and allowed myself with full trust to sing whatever came out it would often ease the pain."
An instrument similar to a harmonium is a keyboard that produces sound by forcing air through reeds that have been tuned to produce various musical notes.
Since he initially had to postpone and then canceled his "Wonder: The World Tour" in the summer of 2022, the Juno Award winner has been concentrating on his mental health.
He promised his millions of admirers in a statement, "'I promise I will be back as soon as I've taken the right time to heal." When the vocalist of Imagination started using the harmonium, he remarked, "it felt so difficult at first to let myself sing without needing perfection."
"After a while I actually started to fall in love with the dance between the "right" and the "wrong" notes..." he continued later.
"I realized that the only times the "correct" notes could produce moments of bliss and euphoria were when the "wrong" notes were present."
His realization that "I can only sing in key because I've learned to listen" was the turning point.
The artist stated that accepting and appreciating life's low points has been the most important lesson he has ever learnt. not to feel the need to continuously adjust or correct things in order to feel high again, as I am aware that there is always something to hear if I truly slow down and pay attention when I'm low.
John Mayer, Shawn's friend, reacted to his statement with three heart emoticons.
Behram Siganporia, an Indian singer, contributed his voice writing, saying, "Indian musicians and vocalists use the harmonium extensively; it is a beautiful instrument."
He said he's happy Mendes is using it. Armaan Malik, an Indian songwriter and producer, tuned in and wrote the same. His message was well received by his followers, claiming he is a strong and beautiful soul.
