Elton John has released music for decades upon decades; and after his "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour, he is sick of twiddling with his thumbs and decided to return to the recording studio--with pal Brandi Carlile!
"Elton is so fraught with loss at not knowing what to do next," said Pete Townshend, another longtime friend of the British singer.
The boredom must have gotten to him, because the "Your Song" singer jumped back to the recording studio and managed to come up with an album within two weeks.
"He's just gone over to L.A. to make an album with Brandi Carlile. They made an album together in two weeks. He says it's one of the best things they've ever done," Townshend continued.
This is not the first time Carlile has joined John in a music collaboration; according to Stereogum, the pair worked on a song that ended up in his "The Lockdown Sessions: album, released in 2021.
Elton John's Vault is Full, Thanks to Bernie Taupin
John having another album on the fly is no surprise since back in November 2023, he hinted that he has an album lined up.
"We've just finished an album in Los Angeles, which is going to surprise the shit out of you," the "Tiny Dancer," singer said while inducting his longtime collaborator Taupin into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame.
"And it's absolutely wonderful, and it's full of youth, and it's full of vitality. It's a wonderful place to be after we've been together for 56 years."
Elton John, Brandi Carlile's Friendship
According to reports, just as John cherishes his relationship with the American singer-songwriter, she also has nothing but great things to say about him and their friendship.
"I think we find ourselves in a position of being soulmates. Our friendship is an amazing one," Carlile said.
Elsewhere in her interview, the singer revealed that she had been the "biggest Elton John fan" before becoming his mentee and friend.
"It was really profound for me because I had been the biggest Elton John fan in the universe since I was like 11 years old and he had never seen me sing."
She recalled how she saw him perform "Your Song" in Joni Mitchell's living room: "How did this end up being my life?"
