Soca artist Ricardo Drue has passed away on Dec. 12 at the age of 38. Known for his major hits like "Vagabond" and "Professional," it is an undeniable loss for the Caribbean community.
Drue's mother, Nicola Barriteau made a public statement that the funeral has been set for almost a month since this tragedy on Jan. 9 at the Holy Family Cathedral in Michael's Mount, St. Johns Antigua where the singer is from. Barriteau also wrote that the family asks for privacy during this time.
Drue leaves behind his fiance, Patrice Roberts and five children. Roberts, who is struggling with the death of her fiance, has made multiple social media posts mourning his death. On the day of his passing she wrote on Instagram, "I'd do anything to hear your voice, wake up."
Other legends have taken to social media as well to send prayers and support, including Machel Montano who commented, "Gosh Patsy my heart is feeling for you and the entire family! This is just hard, but we are all here with you. My condolences to you and Ricardo's family, friends and fans. Sorry for your loss."
While the cause of death has not been released, it is clear with the outpour of support and remembrance of Drue that he has left an everlasting amount of love and will surely never be forgotten.
