Kelly Clarkson opened up about the real reason she wed Brandon Blackstock.
On Wednesday, January 3, a published interview (via OK! Magazine) featuring Clarkson revealed the singer's view on love and her marriage to her ex-husband. According to the "Because of You" hitmaker, she tied the knot with him, although she did not want to.
Kelly Clarkson Did Not Want To Marry Brandon Blackstock
Clarkson and Blackstock became legally single when they finalized their divorce in 2022.
According to the singer and TV host, she does not want to marry someone again as she even never wanted to get married when she did the first time.
"[Brandon] had children, a religious background, and it was important, I think, for him," she said of her ex-husband's belief in marriage. "But I've never been that person. Because I've been through a couple of divorces in my family, I just don't like to put any weight on it. It can happen; it doesn't have to happen."
She said she would never think of saying "I do" again until her kids are out of her house.
Clarkson and Blackstock share two children: River and Remington.
As for dating, the 41-year-old singer also ruled out the idea and said "dating sucks, and so awkward."
"I told a friend it would have to be an individual that brings their own life to the table without needing anything from me," she continued. "It's far more romantic to say, 'I want you, but I don't need anything.' I'm really good right now, I'm having a good time."

Kelly Clarkson Is Happy With Her Life Now
Having a partner is currently out of the choices, especially since she reportedly feels happy with everything she has now: her kids, family, friends and jobs.
Clarkson took time to look back at her failed marriage and noted how she has always known that love is hard.
"Sometimes love is looking at someone and going, 'This is not good for you. This is not good for me.' That's a hard thing to face. But when you do, I think you grow," she went on.
