Christina Aguilera has been gearing up for her Las Vegas residency for months; and just as she is finally ready to unleash the genie in the bottle, she has to pack it up again--because she's sick with the flu.
"After welcoming you all to the new year from the stage in Las Vegas, I've been welcomed with a new year flu!" The 43-year-old singer wrote in a social media update.
"I am sorry to share that my two shows this weekend will be rescheduled while I rest-and I cannot wait to be back on that stage in a few weeks."
She went on to say that she is "incredibly proud" of her upcoming show and that she will see her fans soon.
The postponement announcement comes a few days after Aguilera expressed her excitement to bring her highly anticipated residency to life this year and begin a "new chapter."

On New Year's Day, the singer took to Instagram to share her excitement about her Las Vegas residency, which began last Dec. 30 and 31 at the Voltaire Belle de Nuit venue at the Venetian Resort.
"Tonight marks the beginning of a new chapter. I couldn't think of a better way to bid farewell to this incredible year than to spend this night in LAS VEGAS with all of you, surrounded by your energy and enthusiasm.
"Cheers to the magical moments we'll create, the music that will fill our hearts and the endless possibilities that lie ahead," she wrote.
According to Page Six, Aguilera announced her Las Vegas residency in October.
"Immerse yourself in the fusion of art and music. I'm bringing an intimate, seductive, and sophisticated new show to Las Vegas," she wrote in her statement.

According to reports, prior to her pair of shows on the last two days of 2023, Aguilera showed off her figure.
The singer, who has been working non-stop and rehearsing for her shows lost a whopping 40 lb. weight.
She was seen wearing corsets, skin-tight leotards, and body suits throughout the show.
Aguilera revealed that her secret to losing weight is going to the gym and having a balanced diet; she has taken to boxing, strength training, and even cardio workouts to help her perform live.
