Actor and musician David Soul has died at the age of 80, his wife confirmed.

Helen Snell, Soul's wife of 13 years, and his representatives released statements to multiple media outlets to share the heartbreaking news. In Snell's message to People, she called the late actor and musician a "beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother."

His representative sent a similar announcement to Fox News Digital.

David Soul Dead at 80

According to the reports, Soul died on Thursday, January 4, night "after a valiant battle for life in the loving company of family" in London, England.

"He shared many extraordinary gifts in the world as actor, singer, storyteller, creative artist and dear friend," it continued. "His smile, laughter and passion for life will be remembered by the many whose lives he has touched."

They have yet to confirm the funeral and memorial details.

Meanwhile, Soul's fans and colleagues wrote heartfelt tributes online as they looked back at his life and career.

One said, "People will rightly be talking about Starsky and Hutch, Magnum Force, etc today, but that moment when David Soul randomly turns up in Filth (2013) to sing Silver Lady is definitely worth a little mention. RIP #DavidSoul."

"Condolences to the family of David Soul. One of his early roles was on an episode of Star Trek Original Series," William Shatner said, while another social media user wrote, "Very sad to hear about David Soul. A much loved family favourite. RIP."

Remembering David Soul

Soul was best known for his appearance in the crime-solving series, "Starsky & Hutch," where he played Detective Kenneth "Hutch" Hutchinson's role.

But as a musician, he notably started pursuing a singing career long before he launched his empire in the acting industry.

In the 1960s, he appeared on "The Merv Griffin Show" as the Covered Man, famously introducing himself as someone who wanted to be known for his music. It soon opened the doors for him to the TV industry, debuting in "Flipper."

He released his self-titled first studio album in 1976, followed by "Playing to an Audience of One," "Band of Friends," "The Best Days of My Life" and "Leave a Light On..."

Meanwhile, Soul's most famous tracks were "Don't Give Up on Us," "Silver Lady" and "Going in With My Eyes Open."
