Serena Williams Parties Hard After Winning U.S. Open Title Then Cancels Several Scheduled Early Morning Appearances

Serena Williams was absolutely thrilled to win the U.S. Open this past Sunday and apparently her celebrating got in the way of several scheduled interviews that she had on the books for Monday morning. After winning her 18th Grand Slam title Williams partied until the wee hours of the morning with her final opponent and good friend, Caroline Wozniacki. The tennis champs hit up Tao and VIP Room together along with a party of about 30 other people. The group drank and danced until 3 a.m., leaving Serena in rough shape for her early morning call time.

Both NBC's The Today Show and ABC's Good Morning America began their shows with a teaser about an interview coming up with the tennis player but they had to retract that when the U.S. Open Champ suddenly canceled her whole early morning schedule which also included an interview on Live With Kelly and Michael. Williams and her entire team, including her publicist and agent had all been popping bottles together and they also decided together to cancel the early morning hits due to two weeks of intense competition followed by exhaustion.

The star did have herself together by late morning, however, and was on time for a photo call at The Empire State Building and got through the rest of Monday's media obligations without an issue.

Should Williams have sucked it up and pulled herself together for those earlier call times? She obviously had good reason to celebrate but making the interview rounds the morning after a big win is simply part of the job, don't you think? Tell us your thoughts on Serena's blowing off her interviews after a late night out in the comments below!
