Boy George has struggled in the past with his heroin addiction. Today, he is now fully sober, and he recalls a particular time when Elton John had supported him on his journey.

George has recently released his memoir, "Karma," which detailed moments in his life and other never-before-told feelings about other artists.

Elton John Helped Boy George's Sobriety

Speaking to People Magazine about his new memoir, "Karma," Boy George shares a particularly heartwarming moment he had shared with Elton John back then when he was in the depths of addiction to heroin.

"It was right at the end of getting clean," he said. "He called me up and said, 'I know, you're clean. Do you wanna come out?' It was very sweet. He's great like that, he was very supportive like that."

George recalls John introducing him to the late Tina Turner.

"I'd become a Buddhist. And he was like, 'Oh, Tina's a Buddhist.' So I said, I know," he remembered.

While everyone would have wanted the interaction to be great, especially for George who was a self-confessed Tina Turner fan, it was the other way around.

"She wasn't nice to me, which was the shame," he confessed, saying that he left the singer's dressing room upset. "I'd just come off drugs. So maybe she was disapproving of - that could have been it."

Boy George Not Friends With Janet Jackson

"When it comes to me and Janet, let's wait a while," he cheekily teased in his autobiography. "She wasn't friendly and didn't try to be. But I just walked off and got myself into my best 'Boy George' and was walking around backstage to make sure I was seen by everyone."

Boy George was unapologetically himself - saying that when a crew of Jackson had approached him to record a message for her - he had this to say: "Next time you meet someone, be nice."

Later on that night, Jackson had asked him in her dressing room that she had not recognized him earlier when they met. But George was feisty, asking her, "Are you saying you would have been nice to me if you knew who I was?'"
