Travis Kelce knew how his romance with Taylor Swift helped him take a brighter spotlight outside of the NFL.
Swift revealed in her interview with TIME that she and Kelce started dating months before she made her appearance in one of the Kansas City Chiefs games. While their relationship immediately put the tight end to a new level of fame, he is said to be in the "fame game" long before they began dating.
Travis Kelce Is Not Using Taylor Swift
Dating Swift can put someone in the spotlight immediately, so there have been worries that Kelce might not keep up with his girlfriend's popularity.
However, Donna Kelce told "Good Morning America" that there was nothing to worry about Travis as he was "embracing fame as much as he can." She added the athlete "likes attention, so he'll be fine."
A source also shared with InTouch Weekly that Travis is not using Swift for fame because he has been working on his own empire for years.
"Travis was far from some shy wallflower before hooking up with Taylor," the insider said.
Aside from being a Kansas City Chiefs player, he also established a career as a host by appearing on "Saturday Night Live" and as an artist by signing with Creative Artists Agency. Travis has also scored several commercials and endorsements long before his romance with the "Lover" singer started.
His managers share similar comments in their interview with The New York Times, saying they predicted 2023 would still be his breakout year with or without Swift.
According to an insider, Travis has been playing the fame game for a long time as his managers want to make him "as famous as The Rock."
Travis Kelce's Managers Want To Reduce His Spotlight
Far from the accusations that Travis is only dating Swift for the spotlight, his managers actually want to tone down the attention the athlete has been getting as they are worried everyone could grow tired of seeing him because of too much media exposure.
Because of this, they planned for 2024 to make his success unceasing.
The managers reportedly want him to focus on "quality over quantity" and "authenticity first" this year, making him work on fewer deals.
