In the vast world of the internet, Taylor Swift's fans, also known as the Swifties, have been laced with Nancy Drew's blood when it comes to theorizing all possible outcomes that suggest that Taylor Swift is working on something new.
From determining whether Swift would announce her next release date, to determining what she meant by a simple slip of a tongue, Taylor Swift has altered the brain chemistry of her Swifties to look for easter eggs.
This is why when the trailer for the movie "Argylle" came out, many fans were convinced that Taylor Swift was the anonymous writer who wrote the book it was based on.
Did Taylor Swift Write The 'Argylle' Novel?
According to "Argylle" film director Matthew Vaughn, Taylor Swift did not write the "Argylle" novel the 2024 film is based on.
"I'm not a big internet guy, and it was actually my daughter who came up to me - this is the power of celebrity and the internet - and said, 'You never told me Taylor wrote the book!'" Vaughn told Rolling Stone in an interview. "And I'm looking at her going, 'What are you talking about Taylor Swift wrote the book? She didn't write the book!' And I was laughing because I was like, 'It's not true! She didn't write the book!' But my daughter was convinced of it."
For those who do not know, "Argylle" was written pseudonymously by Ellie Conway - and fans are convinced that it was Taylor Swift hiding behind the pen name.
"There is a real book ... and it's a really good book. And there is an Elly Conway who wrote the book, but it's not Taylor Swift. And I say that because I imagine Taylor Swift has a load of people trying to jump on her bandwagon left, right, and center, and I don't want to be a part of that club," Vaughn revealed. "I did read the conspiracies and I was like, wow, they don't leave a stone unturned! But it's not Taylor Swift. She definitely didn't write the book."

Why Did Swifties Think Taylor Swift Write 'Argylle'?
Billboard noted that some Swifties came to the conclusion that Taylor Swift wrote "Argylle" because of the seeming parallels of Ellie Conway with the acclaimed songwriter.
First, Taylor Swift's penchant for ghostwriting and using pen names is the most notable one. Second, Swift loves to wear argyle patterned sweaters, and she has two Scottish folds - Meredith Grey and Olivia Benson - the same breed of cat in the film and the novel.
She also carried Olivia Benson in a similar cat pack that its like the one described in the novel and the movie. Lastly, Swift has recently delved into writing and directing, which was the cherry on top for some Swifties.
