Kid Cudi and Kanye West's friendship splintered when the latter began taking shots at the "Pursuit of Happiness" rapper online from 2022 to 2023.

"Siblings hurt you the most. So you go through things, but family is always there," Cudi said during his interview with Zane Lowe of Apple Music.

"You don't give up on family. And I think in the thick of it, when it was going down, I wanted to walk away."

According to reports, the "Gold Digger" rapper reached out to Cudi and apologized to him, and while Cudi initially did not want anything to do with West, he eventually caved as well.

"I wanted to give up, but in thinking about it the past couple years, it's like this is someone who is my brother ultimately who came into my life and championed me and did things for me that nobody else did for me early on in my career."

Kid Cudi, Kanye West's Feud

The feud began in 2022 after Cudi refused to cut ties with comedian Pete Davidson, who happened to be dating West's ex-wife, Kim Kardashian in 2022.

According to reports, West began taking shots at Cudi online, and the "Stars in the Sky" rapper did not take it lying down.

"Too bad I don't wanna be on [your] album, [you] f**king dinosaur," Cudi wrote on Instagram. "Everyone knows I've been the best thing about [your albums since I met [you].

"Ima pray for [you] brother," he added.

Cudi then tweeted this, "We talked weeks ago about this. You're whack for flipping the script and posting this lie just for a look on the Internet. You ain't no friend. BYE."

This was in response to West's handwritten post online: "Just so everyone knows, Cudi will not be on ['Donda 2'] because he's friends with you-know-who [...]"

Kid Cudi Forgives Kanye West

Aside from breaking ties with Cudi, West went on somewhat of a downward spiral, ranting about anti-semitism and beefing with Adidas and Gap.

"He's learning and he's growing," Cudi said about West's redemption arc. "He knows he made some mistakes and I think that that's the beauty of it, is this is a beautiful thing.

"It's like he knows he's been on one hell of a ride and he knows he's said some things that he might not be able to come back from in a lot of realms, in a lot of spaces from certain people. But we grow and I think I pray for him, and that's my brother."
