Elle King had a little too much to drink before she gave Dolly Parton a birthday tribute, and fans are furious!
The Grand Ole Opry also issued a statement following King's disappointing behavior onstage.
Elle King Drunk While Giving Dolly Parton Tribute
Elle King was very intoxicated when she sang at The Grand Ole Opry in honor of Dolly Parton's 74th Birthday.
In a now-circulating video of Elle King, she was definitely in over her head when she addressed the crowd last weekend, admitting she doesn't even know the lyrics on Parton's 2001 hit "Marry Me."
"I don't know the lyrics to these things in this f - - king town," King said, "Don't tell Dolly 'cause it's her birthday."
According to The New York Post, King started addressing the crowd who seemed to not like her behavior.
"You spent money for this s - - t," King said. "You ain't getting your money back. "I'll tell you one thing more: 'Hi, my name is Elle King [and] I'm f - - king hammered.'"
As King fails to get hold of herself, one of her bandmates suggests they play a song on their own, which King verbally agrees to.
"I can barely play another person's song, let me see if I can play one of mine," King admitted.
Meanwhile, people stormed to social media to lash out at Elle King's behavior.
"elle king. how disrespectful. not only to dolly, but to every single person who has walked on that stage. i seriously cannot even believe it," one said.
"I watched this, and Elle King should be embarrassed for disrespecting Dolly Parton this way. I don't think the kids in the audience needed to see this either," another commented.
"I wish this would get more publicity because this was horrifying to watch and solidified her place as a disgustingly bad performer. Her PR team must be performing an act of God. #elleking #opry," another pointed out.
Grand Ole Opry Issues Statement On Elle King Drunk Video
On Grand Ole Opry's Official Twitter account, they revealed that Lauren Alaina wouldn't be coming in to perform on the concert tribute for Dolly Parton.
A fan responded to the tweet, saying that they would've preferred to see her instead of an intoxicated Elle King.
Grand Ole Opry responded to this, issuing an apology: "..we deeply regret and apologize for the language that was used during last night's second Opry performance."
As of this writing, Elle King has yet to issue a statement and apologize for the said unruly behavior.
