At this age, it is safe to say that social media has become a double-edged sword, especially for those who are not very knowledgeable on how to use it carefully.
Tina Knowles was involved in a controversy when she was spotted liking a post that criticized pop icon, Janet Jackson.
Now, the mother-manager finally breaks her silence about the issue.
Tina Knowles Shades Janet Jackson?
The Tina Knowles and Janet Jackson drama started when eagle-eyed fans spotted that Tina Knowles liked a post criticizing the exorbitant prices of Janet Jackson's "Together Again" Tour.
According to the post, the Janet Jackson tickets are priced from $839 to almost $2400.
"You want Beyoncé prices, have real production. Just disgusted. I'm not the only one... oh the DMs I'm getting. Way to thank your fans for years of support," the post said.
If one sees the post on their feed, they would see a person with a huge following, or their commonly followed person at the likes tab, and Tina Knowles was there. Many perceived Tina's like on the post as an endorsement of the accounts's strong sentiments against Jackson. (via Billboard)
The conversation ran amok on social media, with some saying that Tina Knowles was dragging Janet Jackson.
Finally, Tina Knowles has broken her silence on the matter.
Tina Knowles Clarifies Janet Jackson Shade
In a video she posted on Instagram, Tina Knowles clarified what the ongoing rumor meant.
"I just received a phone call that I'm trending for liking a post about ticket prices and an artist overcharging. First of all, being on the other side of that, I know better than anyone what a great production costs, and that it's expensive," Knowles said in her video. "I would never criticize another artist, let alone Janet Jackson, who is the queen of production! And her family! I mean they're the first family of music, always have been and always will be, and I love and respect them.
Knowles also emphasized that she "stay[s] away from negativity."
What I am guilty of, is liking posts when I'm in a big hurry and I don't have time to really read, and liking things because I trust that these are people that I follow," Knowles explained. "That was a big mistake, I will never do that again. So, I just wanted you to hear it from my mouth that I would absolutely never do that."
