Not many can say they have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, or Tony award nor have many been nominated for them. But, it is not impossible. Here's a list of seven Black stars who have won it all.
Jennifer Hudson
Hudson received an Oscar for best supporting actress in "Dreamgirls," a Daytime Emmy for "Baby Yaga," two Grammys for a 2009 R&B album and "The Color Purple" on Broadway's cast recording. But her collection was complete when she received a Tony in 2022 for "A Strange Loop."
2. John Legend
Legend received 10 Grammys and an Oscar in 2015 for his song "Glory" in "Selma," an Emmy for producing "Jesus Christ Superstar Live" and a Tony for co-producing "Jitney."
3. Viola Davis
Davis received an Oscar and Tony for "Fences," an Emmy for "How to Get Away With Murder" and a Grammy for "Finding Me: A Memoir." Davis also received a Tony for "King Hedley II."
4. Harry Belafonte
Belafonte received an honorary Oscar, an Emmy for his late night tv show "Tonight with Harry Belafonte," a Tony for his role in "John Murray Anderson's Almanac" and six Grammys.
5. Whoopi Goldberg
Goldberg received a Tony for "Thoroughly Modern Millie," a Grammy for "Whoopi Goldberg: Direct from Broadway," an Emmy for "The View" and an Oscar for "Ghost."
6. James Earl Jones
Jones received two Primetime Emmys for "Gabriel's Fire" and "Heat Wave," a Daytime Emmy for "Summer's End," three Tonys, for "The Great White Hope" and "Fences, and a Grammy for "Great American Documents."
7. Quincy Jones
Jones received an honorary humanitarian Oscar, a Tony for "The Color Purple," an Emmy for "Roots" and 28 Grammys.
