On August 30, the Goddess of Pop, Cher responded to a fan's post comparing Dua Lipa to herself.
Apparently, Cher does not agree with Dua being hailed as "being her" of this generation. She did not let her misgivings stay hidden and made it known to her followers, especially those fans who dare compare them two.
"Dua Lipa, the Cher of our generation," the Twitter user wrote as a caption to the video of the "Levitating" singer, 27, at 2021's Grammy Awards.
Cher, 76, did not appear to agree, as evidenced by her response tweet: "How many years are in a generation?," with a thinking emoji.

Many replied to this shade, claiming Cher should just chill and if she wants, she and Dua Lipa should just collab!
Several Internet users weighed in on the similarity to "Cher" with their own perspectives. Some said the comparison is false because Dua Lipa is uncomparable to Cher, especially to someone who idolizes the latter.

Others however clarified that the comparison surely wasn't meant to insult. "False.
"Dua Lipa is for millennials/generation Z," one user said, adding that "Cher is for baby boomers/generation X."
"Being *inspired* by someone is distinct from being a replacement. Dua represents Dua Lipa for our generation. Cher is herself.
More others said there is no reason to compare the abilities of two completely different individuals just because Dua Lip likes the same outfits as Cher used to pull off. Others said those who claim Dua Lip is Cher just because of their outfit choices do do not fully comprehend Cher's cultural influence.
They said that today, anyone may dress like Cher, but that is not the same as being the first person to do so. Cher will always be Cher.
It is no secret that Lipa has replicated numerous of Cher's most recognizable looks throughout the years. At the 2021 Grammys, the "Don't Start Now" singer donned a revealing Versace butterfly dress that drew comparisons to Cher's butterfly-themed outfit from the 1974 ceremony.
During a 2018 performance in Paris, Lipa channeled her inner Pop Goddess by donning Cher's classic Bob Mackie nude dress embellished with feathers, which the "Believe" singer wore to the 1974 Met Gala. Similarly, both celebrities have partnered with Versace.
According to Paper magazine, Lipa was named the face of the Italian fashion brand in June 2021. Cher collaborated with Versace to produce her own line, Chersace, for Pride 2022 this summer.
