• Electric Forest Addresses Rumors of Beetle Infestation in Sherwood Forest

    Festivals normally are subject to all sorts of outside pressures like potential low ticket sales, trouble with the law or bad weather, but Michigan-based EDM festival, Electric Forest, is fighting a different battle with Mother Nature. Taking place on the Double JJ Resort in Rothbury, Michigan, the festival grounds are situated in a large wooded area, known as Sherwood Forest. According to a reddit poster, the forest is under attack by the Red Pine Beetle and organizers had contacted local foresters in attempt to quell the infestation, but Electric Forest wants fans to know their favorite forest is healthy for now.

Some of the names featured on the lineup include the aforementioned "Ease My Mind" producer, Kaskade, E Forest regular, Bassnectar, Flume, Big Gigantic, tech house king Carl Cox, Claude VonStroke, who was a rumored inclusion and many others.

    Festivals either hate it or they secretly love it, but every year several artists leak on social media their inclusion in a festival lineup. It could be that they are just too excited and cannot hold it in anymore and just need to tell their fans, or it is just an honest mistake, but either way, once it is out there for any amount of time, somebody is going to see it. As everyone knows, the Internet is forever. Skrillex did just that yesterday, Feb. 10, on Twitter when he blurted out that he was going to headline Insomniac's Electric Forest in 2015.

    Taking place on the Double JJ Resort in Rothbury, Michigan, the festival has announced ticketing information and on sale dates for the 2015 festival. The festival will take place over four days in June, from June 25–June 28. The festival has also released its heart pounding trailer that intermingled clips of live performances and its claim to fame - the Sherwood Forest that lights up at night and where people relax in hammocks all day.   • Electric Forest Set to Return to Rothbury in 2015 After Final Permit Approved

    The show must and will go on. Electric Forest appears to have cleared its final hurdle to return with the 2015 edition of the Electric Forest Festival at Rothbury in Michigan. Yesterday evening, the Grant Township Board gave the festival its final permit approval for a mass gathering permit with a split vote of 3-2, according to local paper Oceana Country Press.There had been a fear that the permit might not be approved, despite the festival signing a 10-year lease with the site to hold the festival on the grounds for another 10 years. The mass-gathering permit has to be approved each year by the town committee.The festival has been mired in legal issues recently, with battles occurring between AEG Live/Madison House, the owners of the festival, and dance conglomerate SFX, which recently acquired the land the festival presides on. After months of legal back and forth, which involved a lengthy court battle and many public comments, a judge ruled in the favor of SFX and the company's right to own the property.
