Miley Cyrus talked about how her godmother, Dolly Parton, communicates with her through a fax machine.

In her W Magazine's cover story interview, the pop star shared her fascination with the music icon's interesting way of communication.

"No one else faxes. I literally have to access my lawyer's office, because the lawyer is the only person who can still receive a fax," Cyrus confirmed. "Dolly wrote to me to say: 'How much do I love you? As much as my heart can hold and as far as my arms can reach.' It gets me choked up."

Cyrus raved about her godmother, whom she also described as "like a mother" to her.

"I just love her so much. Last Christmas, she gave me a whole mannequin, done in her proportions and wearing her outfit. It's so major," Cyrus added.

Parton's communication style has long been a topic of conversation among her closest friends, families, and colleagues.

According to the "Jolene" hitmaker, she remained committed to the fax machine because she was not interested in dabbling in electronic text messaging, emails, and social media platforms.

"I'm surrounded by enough people," Parton argued.

"Kenny Rogers used to aggravate me about it. I said, 'Look, I'll send you a message by carrier pigeon if I need to get in touch with you. You always seem to know how to reach me when you want something!'" The songstress recalled this in an interview with The View, as quoted by InStyle. "So I actually, I never did get into getting involved in all that because it'll take up too much of my time if I tried to get in touch with everybody who is trying to get in touch with me. So I just say, 'Fax me! Fax me or call me and I'll call you back.'"

Naturally, Parton's penchant for the traditional way of communication was not something she had developed recently. According to her friend, Reba McEntire, it dates back to the early 1990s.

McEntire talked about Parton for their 1993 duet "Does He Love You" through a fax machine.

"You don't call Dolly, you fax her. You fax your people and your people talk to her people. That's the only way I know to get ahold of her," McEntire revealed in a 2022 interview with Apple Music's Southern Accents Radio.
