How Jasmine Guy Hid Tupac Shakur From His Shooters: 'They Didn't Know We Were Friends'

Jasmine Guy likened her experience of hiding late legendary rapper Tupac Shakur in her home to "The Diary of Anne Frank."

"Well, the development was after the shooting in New York," the singer slash actress said during her appearance on the "Sherri" talk show.

Guy then went on to explain that she was good friends with Shakur, along with actress Jada Pinkett Smith; she met the rapper when he was cast in "A Different World."

"First of all, I was hanging out with Tupac because he was good friends with Jada [Pinkett Smith]. We were always hanging out after the show," she added.

Guy then went on to reveal why it had to be her who hid Shakur after he was shot in in New York in 1994, noting that the "All Eyez On Me" rapper "didn't feel safe" at the hospital.

"He felt like a sitting duck. And because I had a low profile and they didn't know we were friends... It kinda felt like 'The Diary of Anne Frank' because I couldn't tell anybody that he was there."

While he stayed and recuperated at Guy's home, Shakur's family discreetly visited him along with a private doctor.

Guy's relationship with Shakur and his family only deepened from there. According to reports, she starred in his music video for "Temptations" in 1994, and even wrote his mother's biography.

Tupac Shakur's Death

Even prior to his death, the "Only God Can Judge Me" rapper was one of the most beloved hip-hop artists in the music industry.

His death in 1996 only fueled the people's love for Shakur, and he became immortalized through succeeding music releases and pop culture references.

According to reports, Shakur's death has been revisited several times over the past few years as several documentaries, like "Dear Mama" in 2022, "Tupac Shakur: The Authorized Biography" in 2023.

On top of that, one of the suspects was finally charged with shooting and killing the "Keep Ya Head Up" rapper.

"Duane Davis was the shot caller for this group of individuals that committed this crime," said Jason Johansson, a Las Vegas police homicide lieutenant. "and he orchestrated the plan that was carried out."

Davis was arrested 27 years after the crime, which resulted in the death one of the the brightest rappers in the music scene.
