Ice Spice has had a major 2023, not only did several of her songs top the music charts, she also managed to collaborate with stars like Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj.
So it comes as no surprise to her fans that the rapper is finally coming out with her very own debut studio album, after much anticipation.
"Yes, there's gonna be an album," Ice Spice said during her appearance on Today with hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager.
"I'm so excited," she added. "It's called 'Y2K', it'll be- it's almost finished, so I'm really excited."
The title might be a nod to her birthday and year, which happens to be Jan. 1, 2000, reports say.
Ice Spice Bags Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj Collaborations
Ice Spice is considered one of the rising stars in hip-hop and rap music, and she established herself as one to look out for after beginning collaborations with Swift and Minaj last year.
Aside from making music with them, Ice Spice also managed to form a deep bond with both women.
"When she hugged me, I started crying... I cried, but I walked away. Like, I didn't say anything to her," the rapper said about meeting the "Super Bass" hitmaker.
"I just feel like, 'Bro, like just the journey.' You know I love Nicki and meeting her was great and everything, but for me, it also just mostly felt like, 'This is a full circle moment.'"
Meanwhile, Swift has said nothing but great things about Ice Spice as well. "I relate to Ice in many ways, but I think her dedication and focus is what blew me away from the very start," the "Cruel Summer" singer said.
"She's extremely professional without being cold. Playful and fun without ever taking her eye off the prize. She knows what is and isn't 'her' and sets those boundaries with grace. She studies the industry and other artists' careers but is very clear about charting her own definitive, original path. It's her ability to carefully find that balance that impresses the hell out of me."
Ice Spice Excites Fans With New Album Announcement
Following the confirmation that she will be releasing new music, Ice Spice's fans flocked to social media to express their excitement.
"Naming it 'Y2K' because she was born on Jan 1, 2000 is so '1989' of her omfg she's taking it. We are seated."
"I wonder what the correlation will be between this albums release and Y2K fashion increasing," another added.
"With that title... I need them to reunite and gag the world again."
