Selena Gomez has gone on several social media hiatuses since last year after receiving an onslaught of hate, backlash, and criticisms online--whether it be about her rumored feud with Justin Bieber's wife Haley, or the alleged feud between herself and Kylie Jenner, she has not caught a break.

"It's just whatever she needs for that time period," said the singer's mother, Mandy Teefey, about Gomez's constant social media breaks.

"But it's just whatever time Selena needs, she gives herself," she added.

Gomez has been getting a lot of hate online and while some of them are largely from baseless rumors, others are about her stance in the Israel-Palestine war.

Selena Gomez's Alleged Feuds With Hailey Bieber, Kylie Jenner

According to reports, Gomez and Bieber's longstanding rumored feud was rekindled when fans pointed out that the latter was being "shady" online, mocking Gomez's eyebrows along with Jenner.

The "Lose You to Love Me" singer and the beauty mogul denied the feud, however, rumors persisted and refocused on Bieber and Gomez.

Bieber even had to issue a statement, noting that the TikTok video was made not to shade anyone: "I never comment on this type of thing but we were just having a girls' night and did a random TikTok sound for fun. It's not directed at anyone."

A few months later, though, the narrative was flipped, and netizens began coming after Gomez--they claimed that she was playing the victim and that she began all the drama in the first place.

This led to Gomez's first round of hiatus, which eventually ended when she issued a statement about the conflict between Israel and Gaza.

"I've been taking a break from social media because my heart breaks to see all of the horror, hate, violence and terror that's going on in the world," the singer wrote in her statement.

"[...] I'm sorry if my words will never be enough for anyone or a hashtag. I just can't stand by innocent people getting hurt. That makes me sick. I wish I could change the world. But a post won't."

Netizens complained and demanded she do a better job with using her platform, especially since she is the most-followed person on Instagram.

Since then, netizens have been after her, watching her every move, and counting how many times she has taken a social media break.
