Selena Gomez finally confirmed that she is set to play Linda Ronstadt in the legendary musician's upcoming biopic after much speculation.
"I have no words to describe my heart for this project ... years of hoping this dream would become my reality," wrote the "Love You Like a Love Song" singer in an Instagram Story with a screenshot of an article announcing the news.
The Story was later reposted by Ronstadt herself, who wrote: "Love your heart and soul for life and music," with pink heart emojis.
The news of Gomez taking on the biopic role comes a day after she confirmed that she will also be taking part in Disney Channel's upcoming "Wizards of Waverly Place" reboot sequel.
It seems like the singer slash actor is leaning more toward her acting career, and her words about releasing one last album might ring true.
Selena Gomez Takes on More Acting Roles
Gomez has not dropped new music for a while now; her last album, "Rare," was released in 2020, and her next release came years later: "Single Soon" in 2020 and "My Mind and Me" in 2022.
It might be because the "Lose You to Love Me" singer has been taking on more acting jobs, instead of making and recording music.
Since her unofficial hiatus, Gomez has starred in the Hulu comedy series "Only Murders in the Building" and the cooking show "Selena + Chef."
Aside from acting, the singer also established her makeup brand, Rare Beauty.
Recently, Gomez revealed her interest in acting, and that she plans to pursue it even more.
"The older I get the more I'm kind of like, I would like to find something to just settle on," she said during an interview, and revealed that singing was not her primary goal even before.
"I thought it would be fun and I thought more than anything it would be a hobby that I really enjoyed.
"I wanted to be an actress. I never really intended on being a singer full time but apparently that hobby turned into something else."
Selena Gomez's Dream of Portraying Linda Ronstadt Comes True
While she was promoting her 2015 album, "Revival," Gomez was already showing interest in the legendary singer.
"It kind of reminds me a little of Linda Ronstadt, '70s vibe," she said about her album. "I always used to get told that I looked like her and I started listening to her music because of that."
