Selena Gomez wanted to pay tribute to her loyal fans, the Selenators, for staying by her side since her Disney Channel days, by expressing their love for them on Valentine's Day.
"You guys will always be my true Valentine," Gomez wrote with a red heart emoji.
However, the "Lose You to Love Me" singer's Instagram post was met with criticism after she mistakenly shared pictures of a different fandom, with the word "Selenators" written across it.
According to reports, Gomez shared a collage of pictures from a Girls' Generation concert, which was repeatedly pointed out by netizens.
Girls' Generation is a KPOP group that consists of eight members; their fans are called SONEs, and they are characterized by their fandom color: pink.
Selena Gomez Face Backlash Over Instagram Mix-Up
The Rare Beauty founder has since limited the comments on her Instagram post, but it has not hindered netizens from talking about it on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"THERES SNSD's HOT PINK HEARTS EVERYWHERE!!! Also question for SONE's that were here at the time out there cuz I THINK SM dropped SNSD's lightstick after they first went on hiatus as a group so is this SNSD's or one of Taeyeon's solo concert?" One wrote.
"Embarrassing," another added.
"She'll never sell out an arena like this [I just bursted out laughing]."
"I don't think she ever gets tired of embarrassing herself."
"Careful, this might make her wanna take a 16-hour break from social media," another added, referring to Gomez's numerous social media hiatuses.
Selena Gomez's 'Revival' Tour
The "Kill Em With Kindness" hitmaker embarked on her "Revival" tour in 2016, it was in support of her sophomore solo album, "Revival," which was released a year prior.
It was her most ambitious tour yet, with three legs, and 55 shows in total; however, it was not long until Gomez had to cancel the tour, citing physical and mental concerns as she grappled with lupus.
"I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off," the singer said in a statement.
"I've discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges."
Since then, Gomez has stayed away from touring; she also began hinting that she might retire from the music industry altogether.
