Just yesterday The Yorkville Endoscopy Clinic in Manhattan insisted that a biopsy had not been performed on Joan Rivers while she underwent an endoscopic procedure on her throat on August 28th. Earlier in the week a source had claimed that Joan's vocal cords had seized during an unplanned biopsy blocking her airway and that was what ultimately caused the comedienne to go into cardiac arrest. Now we are hearing that the medical director of the clinic has been fired.
According to ABC News the director has been relieved of his duties and is no longer practicing medicine at The Yorkville Endoscopy Clinic. We're now hearing that Rivers had another doctor accompany her for the procedure and when something was spotted on her vocal cords he was the one that asked to perform a biopsy. The clinic still insists that the biopsy never took place, but it's extremely apparent that something went wrong or else the medical director would still have his job, don't you think?
The Music Times told you a week ago that this situation was about to get messy because Joan's daughter, Melissa Rivers, had been talking about malpractice almost from the very beginning. It certainly looks like Joan's death was certainly untimely even at the age of 81. Do you think the investigation that has been launched into the Yorkville Endoscopy Clinic is going to turn up anything solid, or are they already taking action against employees so that when faced with a full report they can say that they have already handled things on an internal level? Is a full malpractice lawsuit being prepared already? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
