Fans were looking forward to seeing John Fogerty perform his biggest hits at a festival this March, but they will not hear him play his tracks anymore as the event removed him from the lineup at the last minute. What's worse is the musician was unaware of this; what happened?
According to Taste of Country, Fogerty was one of the previously announced performers for the upcoming Country Fest Queensland in Australia from March 30 to 31, 2024. To everyone's surprise, they said he would no longer be a part of the show.
To their official Instagram account, organizers issued a statement: "Due to unforseen circumstances, John Fogerty will no longer be attending our Country Fest QLD Lineup 2024 Event. We are working hard on a revised line up and will have information coming soon."
The shocking announcement comes three weeks after the event announced that Fogerty would be one of the performers for the event.
John Fogerty Was 'Blindsided' After Festival Dropped Him
An Australian publication noted that Forgerty canceled his appearance, but the singer is now speaking out, saying he had no idea that the festival removed him from the lineup.
Taking to his social media accounts, the singer shared an official statement: "I was ready to celebrate with you all for my one and only show this year in Australia when the Country Fest Queensland blindsided me yesterday by canceling my appearance."
He further noted that "unforseen circumstances" were not why his performance got canceled, as he was ready to travel to the other side of the world to celebrate his songs.
Fogerty concluded his post by telling fans he would release a "further statement" about the incident later today.
As of this writing, Country Fest Queensland has yet to address the matter, but based on their announcement, fans who already bought tickets as they wanted to see Fogerty will have an option to refund their passes.
