Karen O had quite the week.
Her solo album Crush Songs dropped, and then she hit the road to support the new tunes. On the way, ex-boyfriend Spike Jonze filmed a surprise music video for Karen's song "Ooo," and then her Yeah Yeah Yeahs brethren joined her onstage at a New York gig on Saturday night.
Here's the setlist from the performance at Le Poisson Rouge (via NME), which featured Nick Zinner and Brian Chase.
- NYC Baby
- Ooo
- Indian Summer (The Doors cover)
- Visits
- Rapt
- Other Side
- So Far
- Beast
- Comes the Night
- Sunset Sun
- Hideaway
- King
- Body
- Native Korean Rock
- Day Go By
- Duet (with Jason Grisell)
- The Moon Song
Most of the material for Crush Songs was written in 2006 and 2007, when Orzolek was going through a breakup with notable film director Jonze.
"He's in there somewhere," she said of the album. "But probably less than people think; there are other significant exes in there too.
Heartbreak is one of the feelings that makes you feel most alive. I mean, it totally reduces you to rubble, but you don't feel it very often in your life, and once you're settled, you're settled, so who doesn't want to revisit that melodrama and rekindle some of those feelings?"
